The Whispering City
2010

installation
Neutral Ground Gallery, Regina SK

At the roots of every Canadian urban site nestles the colonial ideal of building utopia in untouched and uninhabited space. City plans centrally devised offered social planning and social control, ideals which continue to influence the development of contemporary urban space.

City Beautiful architecture informs the design of the tissue paper installation suspended in the gallery space. The work responds to the viewers' presence, dancing on the air currents of a human body moving through the installation. The moving tissue paper whispers the underlying ideals which inform us all.
